In My Life
Growing up and even now, I've never really been a Beatles fan. This doesnt mean I don't like some of their music, I just never got into it because it was never playing in the house. If I pick three they would be:

Let it Be
Bonus track: The Christmas Song - I think that's just John Lennon though...regardless I could listen to that everyday from now till New Years and never get sick of it.
I'm sure there are more I like but those three come to mind first. Generic in the Beatles world but I don't care.
I just came across this cover of "In My Life" by Jason Mraz and I love it.

Grab your tissues
This is the year of Beyonce in my eyes.
No, I am not siding with Kanye but I will say that in years past I have never really been a fan of hers.
Lately, that has all changed, I am loving her songs, loving her dance moves but more importantly in love with her husband, Jay-Z.
Anyways, on this beautiful Wednesday morning the last thing I want to do is post a sad video but I had to share this.

So being that the summer was a Blockbuster Bust I have a few movies in which I am really looking forward to seeing. They pretty much h
First up is "Nine"
I am by no means a fan of musical but something about this preview just really captivates me.
It has a pretty good cast, Daniel Day Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Sophia Loren, Marion Cotillard, Fergie and Kate Hudson
Next we have "Precious"
Then this one is a bit out of the ordinary for me considering it's scary and scary movies make me feel really uneasy...I hate that feeling.
As I watched this trailer I realized I have got to see it!!
"Shutter Island"
Then we have "Coco Before Chanel"
And of course,
"Where the Wild Things Are"

Question of the Day
"What do you think is the best part of a wedding?"
There are a bunch of things I absolutely love about weddings but one I love the most is watching the reaction of the groom when the doors open and his future wife is walking down the aisle towards him. I actually remember one particular wedding that I was in a couple of years ago. One of my closest friends Karen was getting married outside and when she walked out of the doors with her father and started down the aisle I looked at Chad the groom. He was blown away and I watched him say quietly to himself "Wow".
It's a small moment but I think its a great moment.
Besides that I am pretty much an easy going person when it comes to weddings, I have been to the best of them and the worst of them. For me there are 3 elements of a good wedding and 3 very simple things.
1. Good food - Keep it simple and flavorful. Done and done
2. Good Bar and bartenders - If you have a good bartenders that will lead to good beverages which leads to some amazing and simply flawless dance moves. Which leads me to #3
3. GREAT MUSIC - Anyone that knows me knows that I love music. Am I a fan of Bands at weddings? Nope. No matter what I am never fully satisfied hearing someone else sing the classic wedding songs. Are they fun, sure but the chances of me dancing more with a DJ are a lot better than with a band. I am by no means judging anyone who has had a band, I am simply stating my opinion.
So I don't know if I can sum up what is my favorite moments but I will say my 3 key elements make a wedding a wedding.
Enough about me.
I recently sat down with my best friend Maureen who is a huge fan of weddings. When I asked her this question she came back with this:
This question can have a lot of answers, especially when asking different people. I mean for some, it can actually be about the nuptials, the joining as two become one, waiting to hear those two simple words, “I do”….but lets be honest here, as exciting as that is, I’d say most would answer the best part is, the reception, its only natural to answer the question that way. I mean who doesn’t appreciate shrimp cocktail floating around a room, and an unlimited amount of beverages without having to burn a whole in your pocket. That feeling of generosity as you go around your table asking if anyone needs a drink, as if your really paying for it….
I think for me, the best part of a wedding, is generally the overall buzz. The energy that is in the air is sometimes enough to get you going even before you have had your first of 20 cocktails. If the buzz is consistent, then you know you are in for a guaranteed good time…I will say that some highlights for me are, from the beginning, are as follows:
- The bride being escorted by her father down the aisle.
- The introduction to the wedding party (you know your going to see at least one couple walk out doing the fishing pole dance, come onnnnnn people).
- The first dance as a married couple, I just always wonder what they are saying to each other.
- The father daughter dance
- Then the speeches
Then I look forward to whatever follows after….because there should always be an after…..
I then proceeded to ask, Do you find, as a guest of a wedding, you have certain expectations? Band or DJ?
This is what she had to say;
To be honest, I think its the people that "make" the wedding, people spend so much time, effort and most of all money, on little things that at the end of the night no one cares about...They will remember the moments of the nights, not so much the center pieces....I can say I have been to many weddings in my day, weddings in other states, and even a couple weddings in another country. So I do sort of in a way have some expectations...A wedding is more or less an upscale party. I mean people want to go there and have something nice to eat, and they want to drink, but what makes the drinking part so much better is having a crowd on the dance floor. So do I think it matters if there is a dj or band? I don't, as long as they know the tunes to play to get people out there....Sure a dj can have more of a variety, and it is a lot easier on your pocket, but if you had the money, shop around and splurge for a band.....
Over all I think the whole idea of weddings is a little out of control. Don't get me wrong, I love a big wedding and surprisingly enough I love getting dressed up and going but I think people pay way too much attention to the smallest details and get a little carried away. Seating arrangements and center pieces won't play a huge role in my wedding day
