Hanging out with Gramps and Lounging
I just got back from vacation with my family and it was great, a really relaxing week. Early nights and early wake up calls from the kids. Not to anyone's surprise, I took over 600 pictures in a week, 500 being my nephew and my little cousin Grace but there are also a few others of the family.
In all the pictures I took there are two I absolutely LOVE.
I love capturing moments like this and realizing how beautiful they are. My dad lights up when he sees Billy and loves being around him. He talks to Billy as though he is going to respond so I can only imagine their conversation in this photo. The other one is just beautiful and my favorite of him so far in his 6 months of life.

You can see a few more here from the week.

Summer Reading
I am going to be honest here, I never did my summer reading all through middle school and high school, I am not going to deny that but lately I am reading like crazy.
Nope, no one is holding a gun to my head and shockingly enough, no one is paying me to read their books, I actually went to Barnes & Noble and purchased these bad boys. Thanks to me at least 3 employees got their bonuses.
I have been getting great recommendations from people and so far so good but I will tell you one thing. When searching for a good book. I DO JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. Come on, we all do it, just admit it.
Enough of that business, lets discuss the pages in which I have turned.
I recently read "In The Woods" by Tana French. This book is described in Publishers Weekly:
"Irish author French expertly walks the line between police procedural and psychological thriller in her debut. When Katy Devlin, a 12-year-old girl from Knocknaree, a Dublin suburb, is found murdered at a local archeological dig, Det. Rob Ryan and his partner, Cassie Maddox, must probe deep into the victim's troubled family history. There are chilling similarities between the Devlin murder and the disappearance 20 years before of two children from the same neighborhood who were Ryan's best friends. Only Maddox knows Ryan was involved in the 1984 case. The plot climaxes with a taut interrogation by Maddox of a potential suspect, and the reader is floored by the eventual identity and motives of the killer. A distracting political subplot involves a pending motorway in Knocknaree, but Ryan and Maddox are empathetic and flawed heroes, whose partnership and friendship elevate the narrative beyond a gory tale of murdered children and repressed childhood trauma"
I had a hard time getting into this book but once I got past that I was hooked. My roommate told me it was scary so I got excited about reading it but then I realized she didn't really explain her definition of "scary". It sure as hell is nail biting but it does keep you intrigued to read on.
Scary? Not so much.
Suspenseful? Sure.
My review would be (out of 4 stars) - 3 Stars
Currently I am reading "Possible Side Effects" by Augusten Burroughs and its perfect for the mental state I am in right now. I am leaving for vacation in a few days and I am in no state of mind to read anything in which my brain needs to work hard at putting a murder together or kidnapping or anything along those lines. This book is broken up into short stories from his life in no particular order what so ever. I love his writing style.
As stated on his website:

"(H)ilarious, wildly fanciful reminiscences...less spiky than Magical Thinking. It's also more inviting...he makes good, snarky company even with nothing serious in mind...Mr. Burroughs does get away with stunts that would sink more timid writers."

Strawberry Swing
This is one of my favorite Coldplay songs on their most recent album.
The video is not yet been released but here is a 30 preview.

I've got dreams
No, not like my previous blog about dreams, more like aspirations.
I have realized more and more that if you want to be happy in life, you need to be doing what you love with your life. It's not about the money (even though that helps) but about being happy with your life and the way you live it, in both your personal life and career.
I don't make a ton of money (yet!) and that's fine because I know that I am on the right path to reach that state of comfort.
As of right now I am happy.
Extremely happy.
If I had a ton of money I don't think I would appreciate the little things in life that mold you into the human being you are destined to be. You grow into this person who has struggled, making you stronger, you grow into someone who makes mistakes here and there and naturally you learn from them, you grow into someone who has loved and lost but you grow to find love that changes your life forever. None of these experiences come from money...
I have my dreams and I have every intention to make them happen.
Photography has been something of a love affair with me. I absolutely love capturing moments that not everyone sees, I love capturing secret glances, small smiles, big smiles, laughter that you can hear through the picture and so on.
I love it all.
It's my dream to be a professional photographer and its going to happen.
I have a bunch of trips coming up, Outer Banks, London, Jamaica and the thought of how many pictures I am going to take is beyond me. I am already smiling about it all.
That's got to mean something right?
It's the little things in life that play a huge role in who you become.

And the award goes to...
All the Moms and Dads out there!! I don't think you get enough credit for being parents. It is not easy, even if the baby is the best baby in the world (Billy!!)
The Reason I am saying this is because I was lucky enough to babysit my nephew this weekend for the first time while my sister and husband went to a wedding.
Let me tell you, I was EXHAUSTED by 4pm on Saturday. (they left at 11am)
Pathetic? Probably, but man is it tiring to have a baby. I can't even say he was bad because he was far from it, he was so good, no crying at all, he ate, napped, we went for walks and so on but I was so tired. And for the kicker, my mom was there with me so it's not like I was doing this alone.
Regardless of the tiredness, it was awesome hanging with him all weekend, it was definitely entertaining. Billy is the best thing to ever happen to our family and Melissa and Pat are doing an amazing job raising him.
His laugh is contagious!!

Dreams sometimes freak me out
How many people have had dreams that when you wake up in the morning you are confused as to whether or not that dream was real or not???
I have and it kind of freaks me out. It happened last night and I felt uncomfortable about it.
I had a dream that my roommate and I got into a huge fight, over what I have no clue, and when I woke up in the morning, she was gone, all moved out. It was crazy. So this morning when I woke up I couldn't remember if it was real or not so I looked into her room to make sure her stuff was still there. It was. It just felt so real that it made me feel uncomfortable.
Another dream I had (which I didn't think was real) on Saturday night was that I robbed a bank, yup little me robbed a bank for millions. It was so easy, I don't even think I had a gun or anything, all I remember is running from this dude who wanted to rob the bank too but I beat him to it. So therefore he was after me. The rest of my days were on the run...Oh I am such a bad ass!!
I guess why I am writing this is because I NEVER remember dreams, so this is all new to me.
Now if only it were that easy to rob a bank.
