Meghan Fahey, founder of Greenstream Gourmet explains the idea behind the company.
"It’s something I’ve been incorporating into my busy lifestyle for quite some time; to bring greener practices into my daily habits particularly in the foods I prepare for my loved ones and friends. My professional intention in creating Greenstream Gourmet was to share what I have learned in the responsible production of organic foods. First and foremost the unsurpassed delicious flavors that come from simple, natural, and organic ingredients. Secondly, I wanted to focus on the packaging of my cookies. There are so many new options in this industry and to choose something un-recycled or un-compostable was simply not in the chocolate chips. That is why we have consciously chosen corn plastic or PLA, poly lactic acid, which decomposes into H2O and carbon dioxide in controlled composts in as little as 45 days. Our labels and ribbons are made from bamboo, sugar cane and cotton and are printed with soy-based inks. We use recycled tissue paper and boxes for our specialty orders and wild flower seed infused papers for special events. I am hoping to serve as an example and bring to light the fact that the small but meaningful steps in Greenstreaming your life can absolutely make a difference. We hope you enjoy our efforts! "
